Max pulls his black Charger into the dimly lit parking lot of the strip club and parks. He sighs, looks at the building, and shakes his head. “God I hate this sh*t,” he mumbles to himself getting out of the car and heading toward the trunk. The thump of the music from the club can be heard as he opens his trunk and pushes a button on the side. A false panel slides reveling an impressive array of vampire dispensing equipment, stakes, holy water, and a few guns, when his phone rings. The ID on the phone reads COUNCIL.

“Yes sir?”

“Have you reached your target,” the man’s deep voice on the other end asks.

“I have,” Max says putting a few break away stakes in his jacket pocket.

“We’re sending you some back up,” the man says catching Max off guard.

“Did I just hear you right?” he asks slamming the trunk to see a pale man wearing all black standing in front of his car with his arms behind his back smiling.

“He should be there now,” the man says almost knowing he was there.

“He wouldn’t be a vampire, would he?” Max asks reaching for a stake in his jacket pocket. A cat knocking a trash can lid to the ground in the alley way distracts him for a second and suddenly turns to be almost face to face with the man in black.

“He’s the one who contacted us about the club and several other dens, Maximilian,” the man on the other end of the phone says, “and he’ll be assisting you tonight.”

“I can take care of this den myself,” Max says angrily going for his single action revolver instead and puts the barrel under the pale man’s chin, “and I don’t need help from some bloodsucker.”

“Actually my name’s Malcom,” he says, “and pulling that trigger won’t do you any good.”

“Maybe,” Max says pulling the hammer back, “but it’ll make me feel better about my job.”

“MAX!” the man says yelling into the phone. “You WILL let this man help you, or you WILL go back to prison. Do you understand me.”

Max sneers and slowly lowers the hammer. “Knew you’d pull that card sooner or later priest,” he says putting the gun away.

“Lux et veritas,” the priest says.

“Too bad there’s no light or truth in you,” Max says and throws the phone against the pavement breaking it into pieces.

“The old man is making a lot of mistakes,” Malcom says walking to the side of the car. “That’s why he called me.”

“Then you know I can’t just waltz into this place,” Max says looking at the building. “There has to be another way in.”

“There’s a rear door, but it’s usually guarded by one or

Children at weddings. I always thought this should be up to the couple, but I recently changed my mind, when a coworker who adopted a baby from Russia was devestated by her family when they told her that she could not bring her son.

This has driven a wedge between her and her sisters since she normally is the one that would have planned her neices wedding shower and every other family event that they have ever had.

For her it was a slap in the face, and she told her family if she could not bring her son with her and husband then they just would not go at all.

He is family and I think that they could have found a nicer way to go about things, but that was not the case. When she went to the wedding, their were other children there, granted they were a little older but family is family and when it comes to a family gathering everyone should be welcomed not made to feel like an

intrusion.

... consider getting a consultant when things start to get hairy. This is especially helpful if you're planning a destination wedding or getting married in an unfamiliar place.

5) Insure your big day
Answer all the "what ifs" with wedding ...

`There’s so much to consider in the months leading up to your wedding. Not only are you planning a huge event, but you’re bringing two families together, and marrying a myriad of opinions, preferences, and expectations, not to mention nurturing a relationship with your betrothed.

Wedding stress seems inevitable, but it doesn’t have to be.

1) We’re engaged!

The moment you get engaged you’ll probably want to shout it from the rooftops but don’t. Tell your family first. Then, think of the friends you really want to make sure you get to tell yourself. Call those people immediately to make sure they don’t hear through the grapevine. You don’t want your close friends to feel snubbed.

2) Get counseled

You love each other, so you’re ready to get married, right? Wrong. Marriage brings a lot of unpredictable surprises. It’s a good idea to schedule pre-marital counseling through your church, and many pastors require it before doing the service. The goal isn’t to bring out issues but prepare you to love each other better.

3) Set the date carefully

Do anything you can to avoid any conflicts with your wedding dates. Birthdays and big sporting events are both points of contention for some couples.

4) Consider getting a consultant

You might want to do all of the planning yourself, but consider getting a consultant when things start to get hairy. This is especially helpful if you’re planning a destination wedding or getting married in an unfamiliar place.

5) Insure your big day

Answer all the “what ifs” with wedding insurance, especially if you’re planning a large, expensive wedding. Policies usually cover non-refundable deposits, damage to rented property, or serious disasters that might delay a wedding (such as an illness, death or natural disaster).

6) Pick your vendors wisely

It’s easy for vendors to put together a professional website or give you an encouraging story, but rely on references more heavily. If your vendors come heavily recommended, you’ll sleep better at night.

7) Say “No!”

Learn to say no nicely to friends and family who are imposing their ideas a little strongly. Be flexible, but remember this is your day. If their ideas or preferences are getting in the way of your vision, thank them for the help, then gently ask them to back off.

  Get your dance on

Have a little fun with your sweetie and wow your guests by taking a few dance lessons in the weeks before your wedding. You’ll be sure to have a first dance no one will forget!

9) Late-night snack

If people are going to be partying late into the night, consider serving a snack to give your guests a second wind and keep them satisfied for the duration of the party.

10) Take a break

Even though there are a million things to do, don’t eat, sleep and breathe wedding. If you do, you’ll get overwhelmed. And no matter how amazing your wedding day is, you’ll have an anti-climactic event. Reserve at least one day a week as “wedding free” where you don’t talk about the wedding or make decisions, just relax and have fun!

The German Shepherd dog breed has its origin in the late 1800s when Max von Stephanitz from Germany began developing a breed that would later become the dog we know today as the German Shepherd.Von Stephanitz desired to produce a dog breed that could be utilized as an all-around working dog.

Developed from various farm and herding dogs of his time, von Stephanitz’s original German Shepherd was derived from a herding dog he acquired in 1899, and he and his friend Artur Meyer formed the Verein fur Deutsche Schaferhunde which was the first club in the German Shepherd dog breed history. This club and von Stephanitz kept tight control over the breed until his death in 1936.

He determined which dogs would be used to breed based on how well they did in various shows and trials that were the precursor to the Schutzhund tests still performed today. His main criteria for judging a dog’s success were both its usefulness coupled with its intelligence. Von Stephanitz also promoted the utility of the breed to the German government for work in both the police and the military as well as other all-purpose uses as a working dog breed.
German Shepherd Breed History

Following the creation of the German Shepherd breed by von Stephanitz in the early 1900s, the breed’s popularity soon soared and became one of Germany’s most popular dogs. Serving in both World War I and II, the German Shepherd was a favorite military dog, primarily in Germany, but American and British soldiers were also impressed by the breed and brought the dog home following both wars.

In fact, one of the most popular German Shepherds dogs was Rin Tin Tin, originally from France, and brought to America by an American GI following the first world war. Rin Tin Tin went on to make 26 movies until his death in 1932 and contributed to the breed’s enormous popularity.

In addition to its use in the police and military arenas, German Shepherds have a history of usefulness in other areas, is known as a successful show dog and has been a popular family pet. German Shepherds were the first dogs used as seeing eye dogs in the late 1920s and Helen Keller, an avid dog lover, owned a couple of German Shepherds.

The first German Shepherd Club in America was formed in 1913 and the breed was recognized by the American Kennel Club in 1908. Instantly recognizable, the German Shepherd continues to be a popular dog breed, and the German Shepherd is continually in the top five most popular registered breeds as determined by the AKC.

As a couple is starting the planning for their wedding, the question of wedding favors will come up. Do we want to use them? If so what do we want to give and where can we get them? Like many things relating to the wedding, such questions are best answered as a couple. It would be a shame for the bride to pick out her idea of the perfect favors and have the groom completely disagree. Time should be allotted for the communal shopping for such favors to avoid such problems. If time will not allow the couple to get together to look for them, then the choice of favor should be at least passed by the other.

Such a seemingly small thing may be difficult for some grooms to think about. Normally most of the planning is done by the woman, as she has likely been dreaming about it longer than he. So getting the man to sit down and think about what he man consider a small detail as the wedding favors could be difficult for some couples. Never the less it is an important thing to get him to do just that. If he feels he is being listened to and his input is valued he may be more forthcoming. The wedding is after all about both people, so every step of that process should be decided upon by both of them.

But where to get ideas from? There are so many possibilities that it may be difficult to pick out that perfect wedding favor. One of the best ways is to look at bridal or wedding magazines. As they are devoted to the planning of weddings, there is bound to be something of value in their pages. Maybe they will have suggestions for different favors, or maybe a picture of a wedding could spawn an idea in the head of the reader. Perhaps the couple should go online and look at bridal and wedding websites. They will have more up to date suggestions and pictures.

Another great way of getting ides is to merely talk to someone who has done it all before. Maybe a friend of the couple recently got married, or attended a wedding of someone else. They may be able to tell the couple what was used at the wedding they attended. While this may not be something the couple wants to do in an exact copy, it may give them an idea for a similar favor. Also going to a wedding planner would be a great and simple way to get an idea. It is their job to set up weddings after all. It would be a shame not to tap into such a wealth of wedding knowledge.

One of the best sources of inspiration could be the guests or even the couple themselves. Those getting married could think back on their history with the family or friends coming to the wedding. Maybe there are some personal favors that can be given to each close family member. This would mean so much more to them than a simple, generic favor. This will take more work to come up with and some people may not get as much meaning out of theirs, but overall this will create a much more personal environment for the wedding. After all, this is a once in a lifetime thing.

You may have heard the saying, “Something old, something new. Something borrowed, something blue.” It’s meant to bring brides good luck on their wedding day. But we’re giving this Victorian rhyme a make-over.

Every day, about 6,000 couples tie the knot in the US, and some of them are taking the opportunity to say “I Do” to eco-friendly values.

Want your wedding to be green? Here’s an easy-to-remember guide that’ll keep your big day from having a big environmental impact.

Old

Between the save-the-dates, the showers, and the reply cards, weddings consume a lot of paper. So why not send your guests invitations printed on recycled fiber? Twisted Limb offers 100% recycled paper wedding invites, as does WomanCraft-a social enterprise in Chicago that provides employment to homeless women.

Cut your paper usage even more by going electronic. Evites are economic, efficient, and eco-friendly. Plus they won’t get lost in the mail.

New

Aunt Sally’s flying in from Florida and Cousin Joe is driving cross-country. Offset all those travel-related carbon emissions with one of the new carbon credit companies. Purchasing offsets will support carbon reducing programs like wind farms and reforestation.

If just 10,000 couples offset the carbon emissions from their wedding, it would mitigate a cruise ship’s weight of CO2.

Borrowed

A wedding dress can be a costly investment. Why not look into a vintage gown? I Do Designer Bridal Consignment at 6742 W. Belmont Ave is a sure stop to find lightly-worn bridal dresses from the thirties to the present day.

Green

When it comes to food and flowers remember to think organic and source locally. Organic agriculture will cut down on pesticides and near-by growers offer fresher produce with fewer CO2 emissions.

After the big day you can donate flowers and centerpieces to charities, hospitals or retirement homes, keeping the green spirit alive long after the “Just Married” hybrid pulls away.

CO-ORDINATION IS THE NAME OF THE GAME.

One trick to save money on your wedding and yet make it look beautiful is to buy all the basics in plain white or cream and decorate them yourself.

Buy a plain white wedding cake, plain flowers, plain vases for the tables, plain dresses, plain car, plain shoes, plain place markers, etc etc etc. Buy the best quality you can so that items can be re-used afterwards, for example, buy linen napkins instead of paper serviettes that have to be thrown away afterwards. You can also often borrow things such as plates and cutlery if you have catering the reception yourself.

Decide on your colour scheme. You might choose one colour such as blue or pink, or a variety of pastel colours (pink, blue, purple). You only have to look in a flower garden to see how pastel colours go together. Once you have chosen your colours, have a look at colour swatches or a patchwork quilt and notice how a range of colours match without necessarily being exactly the same. This means that you can mix and match items without losing the theme. Bridesmaids dresses, for example, don’t all need to be exactly the same. You could have them all different, but as long as they were all blue they match.

Once you have collected you blank items, you can decorate them all to match. For an ultra-economical wedding, choose decorations that can be removed afterwards. This is also the green, ecological option. So don’t paint onto your plates, but decorate them with swirls of strawberry sauce and a sprinkling of icing sugar. Don’t embroider the napkins, but make napkin rings with matching decorations. Clip or pin on decorations where you can, so that they can be removed or given as wedding favours. Make sure your mother and his wear a matching outfits so the photos look extra good, too.

Pick a motif such as shells or flowers of a particular kind and repeat them throughout your decorations. Forget-me-nots are a beautiful blue, are tiny flowers that can go on almost anything, and are a lovely pastel colour – apart from that they have a great name just perfect for a wedding!

Buy rolls of florists ribbon in three co-ordinating colours and string it up everywhere – it really looks fabulous. It can be used on the car, too.

The old adage: ’something old, something new’ has come full circle. In the world of weddings, there has been a marked resurgence in weddings returning to more traditional, elegant styles as opposed to contemporary, modern styles. Traditional styles like Western-themed weddings are growing in popularity, and if you’re planning on gettin’ hitched, there are a few things you need to consider before you two-step down the aisle.

If you plan to take the proverbial plunge and want to have a Western-themed wedding, there are more than just decorations and attire to plan. To have a top-notch Western wedding, you will want your theme to be reflected in your location, food, transportation (horseback or carriage?) as well as your invitations.
<br  />

For more formal weddings, ivory, cream, or neutral color invitations with white or cream overlays including Western motifs can be beautiful and elegant ways to invite your guests. Further, Western-themed wedding invitations don’t have to employ cliche’ images such as lassos, cowboy boots or bull horns–they can be sophisticated too. For a more modern look, choose a current style invitation with western touches, such as Naptime Productions “Western Initial” design is a clever mix of traditional icons and contemporary style. All you need is a vision to coincide with your theme to bring it to fruition. Consider the overall tone of your event — is it going to be along the lines of the Wild, Wild West or is it more of a simple ranch-style look? Are you going to get married on a ranch or in a chapel in the country? How far do you want to go with the theme?

If you want a more traditional, simple, elegant take on the Western theme, here are some invitation ideas:

- Print your invitations on heavy Victorian card stock.

- Print your ceremony program on rustic paper with a scroll and a 19th century font.

- Use classic Western logos that are more nostalgic than kitschy.

- Word your invitation to reflect a bygone era.

- Make reference to your theme in the invitation.

- Use an old-fashioned photograph.

- Choose classical symbols on your invitations with like a stetson, wagon wheel or stage coaches.

- Use wildflowers like daisies or sunflowers.

Impress your guests with your creativity! Here are one wedding attendee’s remarks: “I recently attended a Western wedding, and I was amazed at the beautiful spectacle. The bride and groom did a magnificent job choosing stylish Western designs and decor for the special occasion. I thought that the entire thing was going to be a complete mess and that it was going to be far too casual for a true bridal affair but I was terribly wrong.

The first indication that the couple was having a Western wedding was apparent in the invitations. The couple chose an invitation design that used a cowboy hat and a bouquet of flowers as the central focus. The lovely icons were set on top of a bale of hay that was delicately placed to the left of the attractive notes.”

In addition to the level of formality of the wedding, the invitation style will also be determined by the any sub-theme of the wedding. For example, an invitation on a picture of a bride and groom riding on a horse would be perfect for a fairy-tale Western wedding theme. A “Lucky in Love” theme is easily built upon with a horseshoe invitation, accessories, and bridal shower gifts.

Whether you want an elegant wedding honoring the past or a wedding with touches of country flair, your Western invitations are sure to leave a lasting impression on your guests.

The Alsatian, commonly known as the German Shepherd Dog, is a working dog breed that often acts as military dogs, guard dogs, police dogs, or search and rescue dogs. They are used because they can be trained in protection and obedience easily and they like to please their owners.

German Shepherd Dogs are large, strong dogs that have coats with either long or short hair. Their coats’ colors vary, but are mostly seen in tan and brown. However, there are some German Shepherds who are completely black or white. German Shepherds’ ears stand up erect and they also have long tails.

There are several lines of German Shepherd, all of which have different looks, behavior and skills. The international working line of German Shepherds are bred as working dogs. They are quite tough but their appearance varies. The North American show line of German Shepherds are bred for their appearance, which is unique to them. Their backs are more angled than a typical German Shepherd’s and unfortunately this can be bad for their backs. They are also believed to not have the working dog traits of the other lines. The international show line of German Shepherd Dog also is bred more so on appearance, so they typically look the same.

German Shepherds tend to develop great loyalty and are very obedient towards their owners. Due to their strong teeth and jaws, they can be trained to attack. Unfortunately, they can also become too aggressive or become fearful if not bred properly. Many of these types of dogs, who are either poorly bred or have owners who don’t train them properly, end up in puppy mills. Since German Shepherds are frequently used as attack and police dogs, they have received an image of being quite dangerous. However, most German Shepherds make great pets for families and are not aggressive.

German Shepherds are very emotional dogs and are quite loyal. They are sometimes used as guide dogs, but that is on the decline as they can get separation anxiety and trauma. As stated earlier, different lines of German Shepherds vary in temperament. Working dogs have more energy and are more obedient. They are intelligent and become upset if they do not get enough exercise. They like to have a job to do, which is why they are often used as rescue dogs. North American lines of German Shepherd Dogs are more fitted for the role of companions.

Due their large size, German Shepherds can suffer from elbow problems and hip dysplasia. They may have skin allergies or have von Willebrand’s disease. The average life span of a German Shepherd is twelve years.

German Shepherd Dogs were discovered in the late 1800s by Captain Max von Stephanitz and were meant to be a diverse working dog. American and British soldiers of World War I then brought German Shepherds to their homes and they became popular dogs. They were used as family pets and as working dogs.

German Shepherds are very versatile in the type of things they can do. They are highly intelligent and like to please and protect their owners. For this reason, they can become great guard dogs, rescue dogs, or police dogs and also make good pets for families.
