When the market hits a bottom, it’s time to start the bargain hunting. The upside from a bottomed market is huge, and then profits can be further compounded into a short position. Bottoms can be hard to spot, but with some experience, bottom hunting can be profitable and extremely rewarding. Even with the best uptrend, you’re unlikely to time a bottom perfectly. Sometimes you’ll see a bottom, enter a trade only for the security to downtrend briefly and retest a bottom. Bottoming securities are unlikely to be perfect, so you’ll have to have plenty of patience. Profitable traders do very well in market bottoms, as they provide some of the best risk to reward ratios.

What to Look For

First, you need to look for a measured downtrend. A downtrend that follows some guide for its dropping price will be more likely to respond to an uptrend or support lines that make up a bottom. When stocks hit the bottom, they rarely do so due to unforeseen events. This is where long term trendlines and indicators really pay off.

Professional traders usually start calling a bottom after a sideways trend, when the stock remains on a bottom for a long period of time. These kinds of trades are more responsive to news, as a breakout must force through plenty of limit orders placed around the current values. When in a sideways trend, orders line up all around the current value, further adding momentum to the trade. Get in heavy on a sideways trend or movement.

Master Day Trading

Creative techniques, like buying when short interest is high or before a big company releases news, is often the best bet. At a bottom, further downside potential is low, while any good news is likely to send a stock flying. Watching the short interest on a particular investment will help you follow any potential bottoms.

The most important thing you can do is preserve trading capital. A win is nothing when compared to a loss. A professional trader is prudent at bottoms, considering the potential risk to reward. In all cases, when the risk to reward is great, simple mathematics would tell you to take a trade.

Strategies

Day trading strategies best apply to bottomed stocks. You’ll be trading in an environment where small factors can send a price moving quickly – for this reason, day traders find bottoms. A trading plan planner will help you organize your strategy for picking bottoms and help you keep your composure during a white knuckle whipsaw in the market.

Day traders and technicians inspired by Fibonacci arcs, retracements, fans and time projections can now own an original oil painting of the legendary mathematician painted by contemporary artist, Tracy Mac. And, what’s truly unique about the portrait is that it was painted by the numbers!

No, the portrait wasn’t created from a paint by numbers kit, but is an original ink and acrylic on canvas painted by Mac who is an established American artist.  The artist lives and paints near New York city and is somewhat of a tech-head himself. As a starting artist he invented mathematical paint brushes, a custom graphics program that he uses along with his artistic instincts to create amazingly detailed and stylized artwork.

Mac’s technique and artistic talent result in a strong portfolio of intelligent looking art that is balanced, colorful and peppered with interesting patterns and designs.

Mac literally paints by numbers using mathematical formulas that can be applied to any medium. In other words, there is no limit to variations on the themes created for each painting based on how the digital file is printed. Sizes, shapes and colors can be altered either intentionally or organically when the artist uses new or different reproduction technologies and methods.

The artist who has exhibited his work in juried shows throughout the U.S. and Europe is represented by a number of galleries but also sells his work independently in his online art gallery at DiscoveredArtists.com. He recently posted the Fibonacci portrait to his gallery along with paintings of Einstein and Euclid as part of his series of Golden Portrait paintings.

Italian mathematician Leonardo Pisano who actually wasn’t called Fibonacci until after his death, uncovered the unique mathematical sequence of numbers known as Fibonacci numbers in the early 1200’s. Late in the 20th century Fibonacci Trading and Fibonacci Analysis were developed as methods for projecting future market trends. Fibonacci arcs, fans and retracements are most commonly used today by technical traders to predict and understand an individual stock’s behavior and are widely used by technicians for market timing projections.

Mac who has a liberal arts education is blessed with a natural acumen for highly complex mathematics, computer science, programming, and, of course, art. His works range from abstract and figuratives to florals, portraits and cityscapes.

The contemporary portrait of the man behind Fibonacci retracement and time projections could become a treasured addition to a technical trader’s art collection. The original painting measures 30″ x 48″ and can be purchased online directly from the artist at www.discoveredartists.com/gallery/TracyMac.

Original artwork in Mac’s online gallery is priced from $500 to $1900. All works are singular unless otherwise noted. The artist signs his work on the reverse side and includes a certificate of authenticity. Mac accepts commissions and is interested in exploring subjects brought to him by art patrons and by other artists. You can see more of his work in his gallery on http://www.discoveredartists.com/.

About DiscoveredArtists.com
DiscoveredArtists.com is a marketplace for buying and selling original and limited edition artworks. Independent artists sell directly to the general public. Prices are set by the artists and artwork is shipped from the artist’s studio.  All major credit cards are accepted. Artwork may be purchased online and is backed by a satisfaction guarantee of a full refund plus return shipping expense.
