Animal rescue: Guide to animal shelters in Texas

Many animals go without homes all over the world. People everyday neglect animals, beat them and make their lives miserable. Most of these animals will make it if they are found before their time runs out. Most of these pets will be able to go to good homes if they are adopted.

Here I will list animal shelters that are in the state of Texas, one of the largest states. There will be quite a few, so I will list the biggest and most known ones and a few of the smaller ones.

If you need a new pet or are looking for a place for your pet you have now please take it to a shelter, just don’t let it go. If you are moving and can’t keep your pet this is also for you to. It usually doesn’t cost anything to take your dog to a shelter. There is usually a fee for people who are buying a new dog or cat or horse or any animal from a shelter. It usually depends on the size of the animal, and it is usually reasonable rather than buying a brand new dog from a breeder. WAY cheaper!

Some shelters only specialize in one animal such as a shelter for cats or just dogs or maybe even one specific breed of dog, cat or horse! I know in Texas there are some shelters that have a No-Kill theory, where if the animal doesnt get adopted in a certain amount of time they won’t put it down or if the animal is to aggressive they won’t put it down either.

Here are some of the shelters that only take in cats; Texas CARES, Adopt A Cat, and North Texas Siamese Rescue. Dogs only; Yorkie Haven Rescue, Coastal Bend Small Breed Rescue, Houston Collie Rescue, Pals for Pooches, Twyla’s Friends Canine Rescue and Adoption, Animal Refuge Foundation, Abandoned Animal Rescue, and GRRR Village. Here is a list of other only animal shelters and they are Ferret Lover’s Club of Texas, Lone Star Equine Rescue, and Wild Animal Orphanage.

Here is just some of the few other shelters:

SPCA of Texas

Austin Pets Alive!

Doggy & Kitty City

HOPE

Noah’s Ark Animal Sanctuary

The Houston SPCA

Second Chance Pets

R.A.N.C.H.

Whiskerville Animal Sanctuary

I hope you find a new home for your beloved pet if you are moving or if you have seen a animal that is out running around with no collar be sure to call your nearest shelter and have them come and get the animal or if it is a friendly animal take it in yourself but be careful some animals have diseases so wear gloves when you handle cats or dogs if they are stray.
