Short stories: Vampires

Max pulls his black Charger into the dimly lit parking lot of the strip club and parks. He sighs, looks at the building, and shakes his head. “God I hate this sh*t,” he mumbles to himself getting out of the car and heading toward the trunk. The thump of the music from the club can be heard as he opens his trunk and pushes a button on the side. A false panel slides reveling an impressive array of vampire dispensing equipment, stakes, holy water, and a few guns, when his phone rings. The ID on the phone reads COUNCIL.

“Yes sir?”

“Have you reached your target,” the man’s deep voice on the other end asks.

“I have,” Max says putting a few Read the rest of this entry »

Children at weddings. I always thought this should be up to the couple, but I recently changed my mind, when a coworker who adopted a baby from Russia was devestated by her family when they told her that she could not bring her son.

This has driven a wedge between her and her sisters since she normally is the one that would have planned her neices wedding shower and every other family event that they have ever had.

For her it was a slap in the face, and she told her family if she could not bring her son with her and husband then they just would not go at all.

German Shepherd Origin and History

The German Shepherd dog breed has its origin in the late 1800s when Max von Stephanitz from Germany began developing a breed that would later become the dog we know today as the German Shepherd.Von Stephanitz desired to produce a dog breed that could be utilized as an all-around working dog.

Developed from various farm and herding dogs of his time, von Stephanitz’s original German Shepherd was derived from a herding dog he acquired in 1899, and he and his friend Artur Meyer formed the Verein fur Deutsche Schaferhunde which was the first club in the German Shepherd dog breed history. This club and von Stephanitz kept tight control over the breed until his death in 1936.

He determined which dogs would Read the rest of this entry »

Which Wedding Favors To Get?? Koozies, Shot Glasses, Stadium Cups ……

As a couple is starting the planning for their wedding, the question of wedding favors will come up. Do we want to use them? If so what do we want to give and where can we get them? Like many things relating to the wedding, such questions are best answered as a couple. It would be a shame for the bride to pick out her idea of the perfect favors and have the groom completely disagree. Time should be allotted for the communal shopping for such favors to avoid such problems. If time will not allow the couple to get together to look for them, then the choice of favor should be at least passed by the other.

Wedding craft ideas for saving money – Part 3

CO-ORDINATION IS THE NAME OF THE GAME.

One trick to save money on your wedding and yet make it look beautiful is to buy all the basics in plain white or cream and decorate them yourself.

Buy a plain white wedding cake, plain flowers, plain vases for the tables, plain dresses, plain car, plain shoes, plain place markers, etc etc etc. Buy the best quality you can so that items can be re-used afterwards, for example, buy linen napkins instead of paper serviettes that have to be thrown away afterwards. You can also often borrow things such as plates and cutlery if you have catering the reception yourself.

Decide on your colour scheme. You might choose one colour such as blue Read the rest of this entry »

Western Weddings Invitation Ideas

The old adage: ’something old, something new’ has come full circle. In the world of weddings, there has been a marked resurgence in weddings returning to more traditional, elegant styles as opposed to contemporary, modern styles.
